What I learned this week is to always try your hardest even if everything around you is falling apart. These past weeks I have been reading The Handmaids Tale, i honestly loved the book if i could have read other books and explored my options i wouldn't like the book but I do i absolutely love it. Maybe only because in my past life i never read a full book i would always stop in the middle and quit because it was either too challenging or I had no motivation to read the rest. My whole life I have always thought that reading was irrelevant and a waste of my time but these weeks in my class I have a new perspective because my eyes have finally been opened by my teacher. I never had a teacher that would care and put passion into his or her teaching and that inspires me. If you googled 'Trying' it would come up with a definition " hard to endure." That was my challenge with this book because I didn't put time and effort into reading it because everything else around me was falling apart but i still pushed through these weeks to push to my goal, graduation. I learned that if you actually try and put your mind to what ever you want to do, anything is possible. Trying counts.
What I learned in my English class this week was shared leadership and how important it is. having a shared leadership gives everyone a voice other than being dictated by the dictator which could be the state or one person. I honestly do think that our lesson relates to what is happening today. Donald J. Trump is our new president of the united states, i respect that he is now our commander and chief but his choices for our country are selfish. Trump is only thinking about himself when he makes decisions and he doesn't think about how the whole country could be affected by his actions. WIthout shared leadership our nation could fall apart. I only hope that our president can change the viewpoint of his decisions before our nation falls apart.
